Easter Sunday
The resurrection of Jesus from the dead affirms that death is not the
end of us.
Easter reminds us that we have a future greater than we dare to believe
in,
provided we open our hearts to the grace that Jesus won for us.
On that first Easter morning the stone at the entrance of the tomb of
Christ was rolled back.
The question we must all face is: have we risen to new life with Christ,
or are there boulders weighing us down and keeping us imprisoned in our
tombs?
By Gods power we too can be set free.
Readings for 2nd Sunday

2nd Reading: Revelation 1.9-11a, 12-13, 17-19

Easter Greetings
He is risen
He is risen
indeed!!!
This was the
greeting that early Christians used in the Easter Season to express the
joy of the season. One would reply with the salutation Alleluia,
Alleluia. Even today this expression is kept in use by many
who see
this time of year as one of great joy, and what is there not to be
joyful about! We live in an area blessed with wonderful abundance and
this year great weather. We do have to
wonder how people in other
parts of the world are greeting this season; in Haiti, in Argentina, in
Afghanistan or those who are suffering the effects of the
economic
turndown and have depleted their savings, perhaps even lost their
homes. The answer for us should be one based on the hope
founded in
this greeting, after all it is not about
weather, or your economic
situation – for the early Christians were mostly all
poor. Rather this
greeting is meant to give hope that lasts beyond the expectations of
this world. It is meant to show triumph over death, our great
enemy.
When we utter these words we are showing our true colors and our true
hope founded in our belief in Jesus Christ and how through our baptism
we share in His life, His glory.
He is risen indeed,
Alleluia,
Alleluia.
