Palm Sunday
Jesus, through all His suffering stands firm, faithful to God to the end.
Giving of ourselves when we feel we have nothing left to give requires great strength. Having faith when everything points to doubt is a struggle.
Feeling hopeful when our lives are in ruins takes all our energy.
Yet in risking love and faith and hope, we discover countless blessings and our ability to love and believe only increases.

Good Friday Collection in support of the Holy Land:

For the year 2010, we shall become pilgrims walking in the footsteps of Jesus just as Benedict XVI showed us in his apostolic journey in the Middle East from May 8th to 15th 2009. With him, we can make a difference, wherever we are and no matter our state of life, as Pilgrims of Peace, by bringing forward his efforts of peace, unity and dialogue.

The mission of the Commissariat of the Holy Land is to help the Christian Communities of the Holy Land and is made possible with the generosity of all the Catholics in Canada. Each year you support sustains apostolic and social works and the upkeep of Holy Sites. Nevertheless, the Church’s renewal is always a great challenge and so is the formation of future priests.

When we will celebrate the memory of the death of Jesus on April 2nd 2010, the words of Benedict XVI that were said at Calvary on May 15th 2009 sends out a message: “The Church of the Holy Land, which has so often experienced the dark mystery of Golgotha, must never cease to be an intrepid herald of the luminous message of hope which this empty tomb proclaims.”

For us too, we can bring this message of hope and light to others! We can also be pilgrims of peace! Let us support those who live this challenge every day!

Chrism Mass in the Year for Priests

Each year, during the Chrism Mass, priests renew their commitment to Priestly Service. This year, as we celebrate the year for priests, this renewal of promises takes on a special significance. This special jubilee year, which marks the 150th anniversary of the death of St. Jean Vianney, the Cure of Ars and patron of Priests, is meant to “deepen the commitment of all priests to interior renewal for the sake of a stronger and more incisive witness to the Gospel in today’s world”.

For this reason, I want to invite you in a special way this year to participate in the Chrism Mass at St. Mary’s Cathedral at 7:30 pm on Tuesday, March 30, 2010, as a sign of your appreciation for the gift of the ministerial priesthood and to support our priests as they seek to respond to the Holy Father’s call to interior renewal for the sake of the gospel.

Joke
One day after church I asked our three year old daughter about the lessons and music she had learned that day.
She told me they were singing Christmas songs.
I was puzzled, because this was Easter, so I asked her to sing one.
In her clear voice she sang: “Sing Ho-Santa,  sing Ho-Santa”
