25th    Sunday in Ordinary Time
In today’s gospel, Jesus tells us that there is true greatness in humble service.
We are called to do the Lord’s work so that Jesus can give His love to others through us.
When we make ourselves available to others
and when we use the precious gifts that God gave us to meet the needs of others,
we are truly stewards of God.

St. Vincent de Paul Special Fall Collection: will be on October 3rd & 4th after every Mass. This year St. Vincent de Paul is in desperate need of FOOD & CASH ONLY!  No other items will be accepted this year.  They will issue receipts for any donations of $10 or more.  If you would like a receipt please enclose your donation in an envelope with your clearly marked name and address.

Month of November:  In the month of November we remember our deceased in a very special way. This November we will have a special night for widows. If you are a widow or you know a widow please call Christine at the parish office.

Thank you for praying for our armed forces.  Please continue to pray for those now serving in foreign lands: Carl Turenne & David Hannon.

Thank you to all who continue to bring food items every weekend for the St. Vincent de Paul Society. They report that our food is not on the shelf very long.  Poor families are truly in need. Thank you for helping them.

Do you know someone, or would you like to become a member of the Catholic Church?
Please contact Father Gillis about a program that will begin this fall!

Bishop’s Collection for Needs of the Church in Canada:  The annual Collection for the Needs of the Church in Canada will be held in most parishes in Canada next weekend. The monies raised will be sent to our Diocese, which will use these revenues to help pay its annual contribution to the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (CCCB). Through the work of the Bishops of Canada who are its members, the Conference is involved in national and international areas of pastoral activity, including ecumenical and interfaith relations, social justice, aid to developing countries, collaboration with Aboriginal Peoples, the protection of human life, liturgy and catechesis.  It also provides the Bishops Forum to share their experiences and insights on the life of the Church and the major events that shape our society.

The offices of the CCCB are locate at 2500 Don Reid Drive, in Ottawa, where a staff of approximately 40 works in different services, supporting the pastoral work of the Bishops nationally and internationally

Joke
“Oh,” sighed the wife one morning, “I’m convinced my mind is almost completely gone!”
Her husband looked up from the newspaper and commented,
“I’m not surprised: You’ve been giving me a piece of it every day for twenty years!”
