2nd Sunday of Lent
Today’s readings call for reflection on our trust in God, who gives us life and all we have.
As His followers, we are called to carry our daily crosses and in painful moments God asks us to trust Him and He will shower us with blessings.
Throughout Lent and always  may we respond ‘yes’ whenever God asks something difficult of us.

Thank you to all who continue to bring food items every weekend for the St. Vincent de Paul Society. They report that our food is not on the shelf very long.  Poor families are truly in need. Thank you for helping them.
Lent   We are asked to take up the challenges of meaningful penance as expressed in FAST & ABSTINENCE (after 14 yrs).  This means not to eat meat or some other favourite food & the practice of moderation in all food & drink on all Fridays of the year.  FASTING (after 18 & up to 59) can vary from person to person – some a total fast, taking only bread and water; others adopt a vegetarian diet on a day of fast; others take only one complete meal.  Lent is a time of repentance – a time for more prayer – a time of discipline and sacrifice – a time to be generous and caring to the poor – all for the love of God.

Joke
During an attack of laryngitis I lost my voice completely for two days.
To help me communicate with him, my husband devised a system of taps.
One tap meant, “Give me a kiss.”
Two taps meant “yes.”
Seven taps meant “No.”
And 95 taps meant “Take out the garbage.”
