1st Sunday of Lent
The season of Lent is our time to prepare ourselves to celebrate the death and resurrection of Jesus.
It is a time for prayer, quiet reflection, reconciliation and doing God’s will. Lent is our desert experience.
We will make it through as Jesus did if we believe that the power of the spirit sustains us.

Lent We are asked
to take up the challenges of meaningful penance as expressed in FAST
& ABSTINENCE (after 14 yrs). This means not to eat meat or
some other favourite food & the practice of moderation in all food
& drink on all Fridays of the year. FASTING (after 18 &
up to 59) can vary from person to person – some a total fast,
taking only bread and water; others adopt a vegetarian diet on a day of
fast; others take only one complete meal. Lent is a time of
repentance – a time for more prayer – a time of discipline
and sacrifice – a time to be generous and caring to the poor
– all for the love of God.

Joke
The strong young man at the construction site was bragging that he could outdo anyone in a feat of strength.
He made a special case of making fun of one of the older workmen.
After several minutes, the older worker had had enough.
Why don’t you put your money where your mouth is, “he said.
“I will bet a week’s wages that I can haul something in a
wheelbarrow over to that outbuilding that you won’t be able to
wheel back.”
“You’re on, old man,” the braggart replied, “Let’s see what you got.”
The old man reached out and grabbed the wheelbarrow by the handles.
Then, nodding to the young man, he said, “All right. Get in.”
