FIRST SUNDAY OF ADVENT
November 28  2004
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Today, as we enter the Advent season, preparation is the key.  The countdown to Christmas should be a time to end grudges, rivalries, family feuds, office politics.   We should do some serious soul-searching to identify the obstacles that prevent us from being closer to God.  Advent is the time to renew our awareness of the call of the Holy Spirit in our lives.  If we are unprepared, the good news is that it is never too late to change course.  Let us be vigilant and prepare to celebrate the birth of the Light of the world! +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

STATUE OF MARY  The week of November 28th prayers will be offered in the home of Nelda Belanger.
                The week of December 5th prayers will be offered in the Snide/Richardson home.
                The week of December 12th prayers will be offered in the Pokotylo Family home.
 NOTE:   Please leave the statue in the entrance after the Mass you attend for the next family to take home.
                        Please sign up to have the Statue and Family Prayers in your home.

OUR PARISH WELLNESS MINISTRY includes monthly Masses at the Nursing Homes & taking Holy Communion to our homebound parishioners.  For a Pastoral visit, call the  parish office - 546-0418.

HOLY NAME PARISH HAS A MISSION COMMITTEE which decides how  5% of the Sunday offering is distributed to the poor.    Pray for the poor and do your best to be generous to them.  Mission Committee meets on Monday, NOV 29th after the 7 pm Mass.

REMEMBER OUR PARISH SUPPORTS “PARTNERS IN MISSION” (FOOD BANK) - each week because the need is so great for many families.  Bring a non-perishable item to Mass next week for the Food Bank.  Volunteers deliver our Parish food donations weekly.

TAIZE PRAYER a perfect way to begin Advent!  Newman House Choir will be leading Taize Prayer this coming First Friday, DEC 3rd 7:30 pm in St Mary’s Cathedral.  All are welcome to this Candlelit Prayer before the Blessed Sacrament.

JOURNEY TO BETHLEHEM  - Thursday DEC 16th at St Mary’s Cathedral: 7 pm Songs of Joy led by the Cathedral Choir; 7:30 -Narration by Chris Forester with the Knights of Columbus. PRAYER FOR VOCATIONS

O God, who has chosen the Apostles to propagate the faith & to establish Your Holy Church throughout the world, we earnestly beseech You to choose from amongst our people many priests, deacons, religious brothers & sisters and lay persons who will gladly devote their entire lives in making YOU known & loved by all.   Through the intercession of Our Blessed Lady, we ask this through Christ our Lord.   Amen.
