19th SUNDAYS in ORDINARY TIME & ASSUMPTION OF MARY
 August 8th   & 15th  2004
Ever since Jesus spoke about the master’s return, people throughout history have waited for sudden, dramatic
change to save them from all sin and pain.  Jesus was rejected because most people did not feel saved from anything - people still got sad, tired, sick, old and they died.  Are we any different?  Jesus offers more than we ever wanted.  Jesus will not compromise: he asks us to raise our expectations.  It is to this kind of highly expectant faith - the faith of Moses, Abraham and Sarah - that we are called today.  It is the profound faith that discards cheap, watered-down wine and drinks deeply of the rich, full-bodied cup that Jesus offers.
