ASCENSION of the LORD
May 8, 2005
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ He lived among us.  He died for us.  He rose again to bring us new life.   Now, 40 days after Easter, we remember Jesus ascending into glory.   We hear His words to His followers, “you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all of Judea and Samaria, & to the ends of the earth.”  We must continue & tell the world about Jesus.  We want to bring the same message of the kingdom of God to new generations.  Tell the story by example, living as Jesus commanded us to live: for each other. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

STATUE OF MARY
                     The week of May 8th   prayers will be offered in the home of Odette Denison.
                     The week of May 15th prayers will be offered in the home of Mary Lou Murray & Family.
NOTE:   Please leave the statue in the entrance after the Mass you attend for the next family to take home.

OUR PARISH WELLNESS MINISTRY includes monthly Masses at the Nursing Homes & taking Holy Communion to our homebound parishioners.  For a Pastoral visit, call the  parish office - 546-0418.

REMEMBER OUR PARISH SUPPORTS “PARTNERS IN MISSION” (Food Bank) each week because the need is so great for many families.  Bring a non-perishable item to Mass next week for the Food Bank.  Volunteers deliver our Parish food donations weekly.
 
OUR PARISH HAS 5 YOUNG PEOPLE going to WORLD YOUTH DAY in Cologne, Germany this August.  Next week there will be a collection to help them pay $2,000. each.  Please put an envelope marked “WYD” in the collection.  Include your name for a Tax Receipt.  Thanks.

PARISH YARD/BAKE SALE - Saturday MAY 14th - 8 am to 1 pm - donations of household items, dishes, toys etc needed for the yard sale - can be dropped off at the Rectory garage. Goodies needed for the bake sale - all baked goods can be dropped off on the Friday or the morning of the sale.
 
KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS GENERAL MEETING -Wed MAY 11th 7:30 pm in St Joseph’s Room.

HUNDREDS OF CANADIANS NEED BONE MARROW TRANSPLANTS to treat life–threatening illnesses.  Fewer than 30% find a family member who is compatible. For the rest, an unrelated donor is the only available source of bone marrow.  George Teves (husband of vice-principal at St Martha School) is one of these people who need a donor. BIRTHRIGHT - an international pregnancy service offering free, confidential assistance to pregnant women of any age.   Volunteers are needed.  Call Karen at 542-8321 for info.

BAPTISMAL CERTIFICATES - for the newly baptized are  in the Parish mailbox  in the Church.  If you attend Mass at St Martha, call the office & the certificate will be sent there.

ITEMS ARE LEFT IN THE CHURCH  - glasses, rosaries etc - call the Parish Office - 546-0418.
 
ARCHBISHOP ANTHONY MEAGHER invites all those who have been confirmed in the past year to gather with their families & teachers at St Mary’s Cathedral on Sunday, MAY 29th at 7:30 pm, to celebrate the Feast of the Body & Blood of Christ (Corpus Christi).  Mass & a special catechesis will be followed with a candlelight procession outdoors, & the evening will conclude with a social time.
All are welcome.
