In the weeks after Easter we are making our way through the Acts of the Apostles”. We should really read it as the acts of the Holy Spirit, continuing the work of Christ and enabling His disciples to become like Christ.  We see them preaching like Christ and working miracles like His.  In today’s reading we see the apostles being persecuted by the same people who crucified Christ and, just as the cross gives the gospel its power, so the persecution of the apostles spreads the good news.

VOCATION VIEW:   It is not that talents add up to vocation; but that a
Vocation brings talents.  The Spirit of God lives within you!

PRAYER FOR VOCATIONS
O God, who has chosen the Apostles to propagate the faith & to establish Your Holy Church throughout the world, we earnestly beseech You to choose from amongst our people many priests, deacons, religious brothers & sisters and lay persons who will gladly devote their entire lives in making YOU known & loved by all.   Through the intercession of Our Blessed Lady, we ask this through Christ our Lord.   Amen.

The Sunday School Teacher asks, “Now, Johnny, tell me frankly do you say prayers before eating?”
“No sir,” Johnny replies, “I don’t have to.  My Mom is a good cook.”
