To help us obtain a more accurate account of our parishioners we are asking that all families fill out a new registration form (including those who have been registered here for some time). You can get registration forms in the church entryway or on our website http://holyname.ca. When you have the form filled out please drop it in the collection basket.

William Vanhorn Memorial & Benefit Concert:
Proceeds raised will go to Canadian Mental Health Association Kingston in memory of William Vanhorn and those dealing with mental health and illness. The evening will include a variety of musical acts and door prizes. In addition to admission price, the evening includes several additional fundraising efforts such as 50/50 draw and donations at the door. November 12, at Tir Nan ‘Og 200 Ontario St.

Reading Buddy Volunteers Needed

Do you enjoy reading and working with our youth? Holy Name Catholic School is looking for volunteer ‘reading buddies’ to assist Grade 1 through Grade 4 students. Come, listen and help develop a child’s reading skills. Any time and day that fits into your schedule is appreciated. A CPIC check is required.  Please contact Dan Finn at Holy Name School-

Diocesan Catholic Women’s League Annual Retreat

Priest’s Benefit Fund Collection: November 12/13, 2011

The Priest’s Benefit Fund Collection supports the archdiocesan retirement program which provides elderly and infirm priests with the financial support they have earned after many years of service to us. The fund currently provides monthly pensions and health benefits for twenty six priests at an annual cost of more than $500,000. We thank you for the generosity you’ve shown in the past and we hope you will generously support this year’s collection.

How Do We Tune Them to God? Parents and grandparents, you are invited to hear dynamic young men and women speak about inspiring our young people to grow and keep their faith. Please join Dan Freeman, Missionary for Catholic Christian Outreach, Queen’s University and members from Newman House as they share testimonies about their own powerful conversion stories. Many of our teens and tweens heroes’ messages turn our kids away from a path of light.
What resources, inspiration does the church offer to help parents in this most important work?

Urgently Needed: Meals on Wheels Drivers or Transportation Drivers. The Victorian Order of Nurses, Kingston, is looking for VOLUNTEERS to give as little as 2 hours a day, once a week.  Without volunteers these community programs would not be possible. Call 613-634-0130.

The Real Hallows’ Eve: Join the choir of Newman House for an All Saints’ Vigil – readings and music for the Feast of All Saints. Held in St. James Chapel at the Cathedral on Monday, October 31st at 7:30 pm. All are welcome for this hour – a celebration of the saints and an authentic Christian Feast.
