9th Sunday in Ordinary Time
Calling ourselves Christians without living our beliefs is not going to help us get into heaven.
The test of Sunday worship is the effect it has on our homes, place of work
and the way it influences our relationships with friends and neighbours.

Lent
We are asked to take up the challenges of meaningful penance during Lent, in particular, FAST (from 18 to 59 years) and ABSTINENCE (after 14 years).  Abstinence is not eating meat and fasting is the practice of moderation in all food & drink on all Fridays of the year and in particular on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday. The ability to fast can vary from person to person. The Church asks that you take one normal meal a day and two smaller meals which if added together would not exceed the main meal in quantity.  Abstinence and Fasting are obligatory on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday. Lent is a time of repentance – a time for more prayer – a time of discipline and sacrifice and a time to be generous to the poor. It is a pious tradition in the Church to make it to Mass every day of Lent.
