4th  Sunday of Advent
Joseph was a man who gave everything in the service of Christ.
We are asked to receive Christ as freely and fully into our hearts as he did and to make the major decisions of our lives based on the faith given to us from God.

Fundraising for Window Restoration:  Now that approval has been given for the work to commence we can begin to look at how funds can be raised to cover the cost.  The final estimate for restoration of the windows with a shatterproof protective glass on the outside is $80,000.00. The work is being done by the same company that restored the windows of the Cathedral.   Our hope is that parishioners will contribute to this project by making a donation with your Christmas Collection that will be towards the windows – only one check would be needed, you can state on the envelope “donation for Windows”.  A fundraising committee has come forward and we will look at our objectives in the New Year after assessing your response to this appeal.  Thank you for your continued support and prayers for Holy Name of Jesus Church.

2011 Envelopes:  You are encouraged to use Envelopes to ensure you get a tax receipt for your donations! Please call Christine at the Parish office or drop a note in the collection with your name, address, phone #, and the location that you would like the envelopes left.

Thank You for praying for our armed forces!
Please continue to pray for those now serving in foreign lands.

Bereaved Families of Ontario:  Family Night; Tuesday, December 21 from 7:30 to 9:00 pm at 721 Progress Ave Unit #1.  This is a support evening open to any adult who has lost a loved one.  Light a candle to honour the memory of your loved ones on this special night.

Salt + Light will broadcast this special celebration live at 4:00pm ET, with encore broadcasts at 11:00pm ET and 3:30am ET (Christmas morning); 8:00pm PT & 12:30am PT (Christmas morning)  Also available online,  EWTN   EWTN  shedule and  the Vatican TV Service (CTV)   shedule

Holy Innocents Candlelight Vigil will be held on Tuesday, December 28 at 7 pm in front of the Kingston General Hospital. At this time, during the Christmas Season we remember the Holy Innocents, the babies who were killed by Herod seeking the Christ Child. We will gather to pray for our “innocents”, the more than 30,000 babies killed at KGH by the sin of abortion. Please join us at 6:45 pm on the hill across from KGH (Stuart St) for prayers and hymns. Please bring your own candle in a glass jar (flashlight for children). (A sincere thank you for your support for our coins for life and Christmas cake fundraisers). For more information call Campaign Life Coalition  613-389-4472 or 613-382-1084.

Advent Prayer
God of power and mercy, open our hearts in welcome.
Remove the things that hinder us from receiving Christ with joy,
so that we may share his wisdom and become one with him when he comes in glory,
for he lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, forever and ever. Amen

Thought for the day
Did you know that we have 35 million laws trying to enforce 10 Commandments?

Joke
As a little girl climbed onto Santa’s lap, Santa asked the usual, “And what would you like for Christmas?”
The child stared at him open mouthed and horrified for a minute, then gasped: “Didn’t you get my E-mail?”
