31st  Sunday in Ordinary Time
Today’s Gospel shows us the forgiveness God offers to the worst of us.
Nobody is beyond redemption.
The call of Jesus “hurry, because I must stay in your house today”
goes out to everyone and we must take full advantage by
acknowledging our sins and opening our hearts to God’s goodness.

Parish Council Meets on Monday, November 1st at 7pm in St. Joseph’s Room.

Catholic Women’s League general meeting:
Wed. November 3, at 7 pm in St. Joseph’s Room. Guest speaker: Sr. Alda Braga (St. Vincent de Paul) on Poverty in Kingston.  50/50 draw.

1st Communion and Confirmation Candidates!
If your children attend public school and wish to receive these sacraments please see Father Gillis or contact Christine at the parish office regarding instruction.

Geo Thermal Heating System:
 If anyone is interested in this type of heating you are welcome to have a look at the one just installed in the rectory. The parish will receive a referral bonus if anyone decides to install Geo Thermal with the same company we used. See Father Gillis or call Christine at the parish office.

Volunteers needed:

to assist with Children’s Liturgy at 9:00 am Mass at the Church. A couple in our parish has graciously agreed to run the program but to do so functionally we need 4 to 6 more volunteers. If you are interested please call Christine at the parish office to inquire about screening procedures.

Instruction for Lectors and Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist
Fr. Gillis will be offering instruction to current lectors and extraordinary ministers of the Eucharist, as well as new people who wish to serve in these ways. You will be asked to stay about 15 minutes after Mass. Father will make an announcement at each Mass where instruction is being offered.

Priests’ Benefit Fund Collection:
November 13 &14, 2010

The Priests’ Benefit Fund collection supports the archdiocesan retirement program which provides elderly and infirm priests with the financial support they have earned after many years of service to us. The Fund currently provides monthly pensions and health benefits for twenty six priests at an annual cost of more than $500,000. We thank you for the generosity you’ve shown in the past and we hope you will generously support this year’s collection.

Jamaica Mission Trip “All you can Eat Fish Fry”
Holy Cross C.S.S. and Regiopolis-Notre Dame C.H.S. are holding a fish fry in support of their upcoming Mission Trip on Friday, November 5th from 3:30 – 7:00 pm in the cafeteria at RND. Mike Mundell will be offering the main course with the salads, pastas, refreshments and desserts provided by the trip participants. Tickets are $15 and are available from the chaplaincy offices at either school or at the door.

Blessed Sacrament Catholic Women’s League is holding their annual Snowflake Bazaar and Bake Sale on Saturday, November 6 in the church hall in Amherstview from 10am to 2 pm. A light luncheon will be served in the tea room.

Rosary in the Cemetery: Sunday, November 7 at 2 pm.
St. Joseph’s Parish will carry on the tradition of saying the Rosary at St. Mary’s Cemetery to remember the Holy Souls. This will be the 26th consecutive year, and all are invited to join us at the Statue of the Angel of Mercy (northwest corner of St. Mary’s Cemetery) to reflect and pray for the deceased.

Come and See Weekend at St. Peter’s Seminary
For single Catholic men 17 yrs and older. November 26-28 and March 4-6 at St. Peter’s Seminary in London, ON. Consider your calling in life while seeing what it is like to be called to the priesthood. There are times for prayer, reflection, discussion and leisure as seminary faculty and seminarians share their experiences of God’s call in their own lives.
