Ascension of the Lord
The feast of the Ascension gives us a glimpse of the destiny that awaits us.
Once our earthly journey is over we will follow Jesus into heaven.
Like the first disciples, we are called to proclaim Christ’s message.
May we recognize and celebrate the ongoing presence of Jesus in our lives,
and the power of the Spirit to transform and heal even our deepest fears.

Prayer for Priests

Eternal God
please bless our priests,
who represent you on this earth.
Make them more greatly aware of the grace
that you pour out through them
when they minister the sacraments,
and help them to fall more deeply in love with You
after each and every Mass that they celebrate.
Please strengthen our priests,
who shepherd your flock,
when they are in doubt of their faith,
that they may be examples of your Truth
and guide us always on the path to You our Eternal Priest.
Amen.

Joke
One Sunday morning, the pastor noticed little Alex standing in the foyer of the church staring up at a large plaque.
It was covered with names and small American flags mounted on either side of it.
The six year old had been staring at the plaque for some time, so the pastor walked up, stood beside the little boy, and said quietly, “Good morning Alex.”
“Good morning Pastor,” he replied, still focused on the plaque.
“Pastor, what is this?”
The pastor said, “Well son, it’s a memorial to all the young men and women who died in the service.”
Soberly, they just stood together, staring at the large plaque.
Finally, little Alex’s voice, barely audible and trembling asked,
“Which service, the 8:45 or the 10:30?”
