5th Sunday in Ordinary Time
The challenge facing all of us is to detect the voice of God in our
lives and have the courage and generosity to answer promptly.
There will be times when we are called to take a new direction and face
the unknown and our response should be no less generous than
Peter’s.
Readings for 6th Sunday in Ordinary Time: 1st Reading: Jeremiah 17.5-8
2nd Reading: 1 Corinthians 15.12, 16-20
Gospel: Luke 6.17, 20-26
Haiti Relief: Thanks to your very generous response, Holy Name raised $7,482.00.
Knights of Columbus General Meeting: will be held on Wednesday, February 10 at 7 pm in St. Joseph’s Room.
Pancake Breakfast: The Knights
will hold their annual pancake breakfasts on Sunday, February 14th - at
Holy Name School after the 8:45 Mass and at St. Martha School after the
10:30 Mass. Donations will be gladly accepted to support the cost of
this meal.
St. Patrick’s Day Dinner for Seniors:
on Tuesday, March 16th. The evening will begin at 4:00 pm
with live Irish music. Tickets will be available after Masses
starting February 13th.
Cost: $8.00 / person.
Volunteers Needed to form a Liturgy Committee:
to assist the pastor in matters related to the different liturgical
seasons. These matters would include things like decorations, music and
special events. One reader or Extraordinary Minister of the
Eucharist and one lay person are still needed. If you are interested,
please see Fr. Gillis.
Bazaar 2010? Last year
there was a great deal of talk about having a larger bazaar. If there
is going to be a bazaar in 2010 we need volunteers to form a steering
committee. If you are interested in being a part of this committee
please contact Christine in the parish office.

Valentine Tea: Saint
John’s Catholic Women’s League, 94 Patrick St. Kingston,
will hold their annual Valentine Tea on Friday, Feb. 12th from 11 am
– 2 pm. Soup, sandwiches and dessert served for $5.

Vespers with Archbishop O’Brien and Elect or our Archdiocese
All parishioners are invited to celebrate Sunday Vespers and the Rite
of Election at St. Mary’s Cathedral at 4:00 pm on the 1st Sunday
of Lent. February 21st. Archbishop O’Brien will preside and
formally welcome all those who have been preparing for Baptism at
Easter, or Full Communion. After Vespers all are welcomed for
refreshments and to meet our Elect and Candidates at St. Mary’s
Parish Centre on Brock /Clergy St.
Presentation by Archbishop Brendan O’Brien:
February 24th, the second Wednesday of Lent, on his trip this past
summer with CCODP to Zambia and Burundi. CCODP is supported every year
by the Share Lent collection. Make it a part of your Lenten journey to
hear from our Archbishop how your support makes a difference! 7:00 pm
at the Diocesan Centre, Palace Rd. Kingston.
St. Andrew School of Evangelization:
The second course, Emmaus, will be offered at Holy Rosary Parish, 169
North Park St. Belleville, from Friday, February 26th at 6:30 pm to
Sunday, February 28th at 3:30 pm. The cost is $75 per person and
meals are included. There are no course prerequisites for taking
Emmaus, such as the New Life Weekend. For more information contact

World Day of Prayer, March 5, 2010:
Celebrating with the women of Cameroon. Holy Family Parish
invites you to participate with them in the World Day of Prayer 2010.
The women of Cameroon have prepared the worship service –
“Let Everything That Has Breath Praise God”. The
service will be at Holy Family Church on Friday, March 5 at 2:00 pm.
Newman House Dinner with Cardinal William Levada:
the annual “St. John Fisher Dinner” will be held on Sat.,
March 6 at 7:30 pm at Ban Righ Hall on Queen’s campus. His
Eminence William Cardinal Levada will deliver the Fisher Lecture,
entitled; Five Hundred Years after St. John Fisher, Pope
Benedict’s Initiatives Regarding the Anglican Communion”
Cardinal Levada is Prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the
Faith, the most senior Vatican department. Tickets are $60 each
