4th  Sunday of Advent
Christmas is the perfect time to remember that we are signs of Jesus presence when we give ourselves to others.
Good things need to be done at a deeper level out of love and affection and a spirit of generosity.
The gifts that we give have no purpose unless God is part of the giving and unless we make Christmas a pattern to be followed in everyday living.

Advent Prayer

Father in Heaven, the day draws near when the glory of your Son will make radiant the night of the waiting world.
May the lure of greed not impede us from the joy which moves the hearts of those who seek Him.
May the darkness not blind us to the vision of wisdom which fills the minds of those who find Him.
We ask this in the name of Jesus the Lord.  Amen

The Parish Prayer Network consists of over 50 parishioners who pray for you each day. They also pray for people in need and for special intentions.  If you would like to join the Prayer Network or if you have an intention, please call 613-546-0418.

REgi-WEAR (Eco-friendly, quality, affordable clothing):  A new project that the RHUM committee will be taking on is a consignment shop. Regi students will have the opportunity to purchase discounted uniform items from the Upper Room once a week.  Anyone who has gently used uniform pieces that they would like to sell or donate to our consignment shop is welcome to do so.  Please drop off donations to the Upper Room.  All donations are to be clean and on a hanger.  Make sure all items are in good repair and stain free.  All proceeds will support charities and efforts of the RHUM committee.  For info – Nadia Gundert 545-1902 ext. 3999.

Holy Innocents Candlelight Vigil:  will be held on Monday, December 28, 2009 at 7:00 pm in front of Kingston General Hospital. At this time, during the Christmas season we remember the Holy Innocents, the babies who were killed by Herod seeking the Christ Child. We will gather to pray for our “innocents”, the more than 30,000 babies killed at KGH by the sin of abortion. Please join us at 6:45 pm on the hill across from KGH (Stuart St.) for prayers and hymns. Please bring your own candle in a glass jar (flashlight for children). For more information call Campaign Life Coalition at 613-389-4472.

Joke
Darren remembers accompanying his father out shopping in the toy department of Hamley’s one Christmas Eve.
Dad said, “What a marvelous train set. I’ll buy it.”
The girl behind the counter looked pleased and murmured, “Great. I’m sure your son will really love it.”
Dad replied with a glint in his eye, 'Maybe you're right. In that case I'll take two.'
