2nd Sunday of Advent
The days leading up to the celebration of Christ’s birth are a time of hope and renewal.
Let us thank God for the opportunities of change that God gives to us,
so that we may become, this Advent season and always,
signs of joy and peace for those whom we encounter.

Confessions:
As we approach the feast of Christmas we should be seeking to receive
the Gift of Christ fully prepared. Spiritually this is best
accomplished by receiving the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Confessions
at Holy Name will be Monday, December 14th at 7 pm.

Knights of Columbus General Meeting: Wed., December 9th at 7 pm in St. Joseph’s Rm.
A Special Thank You: to all who
made a donation to the St. Vincent de Paul society this past
weekend. The Knights of Columbus donated over $100 in food and
collected $723 from the parishioners of Holy Name to help St. Vincent
de Paul with their food bank.
A Big Thank You: for your
continuous support of our shelters and homeless through donations of
soap, shampoo etc... The “Youth Shelter” and
“In From the Cold” are also in great need of socks!
Flower Donations for Christmas:
This year we will be accepting donations towards the purchase of
flowers for the church during the Christmas Season that begins on the
25 of December. I would ask that you not bring poinsettias
or other flower arrangements but instead make a donation in the name of
a loved one. When the Christmas Bulletin is published it will
contain the names of the loved ones who flowers have been placed in
memory of, and the names of the donors. Envelopes will be placed
in the pews during the Advent season and you are asked to place them in
the collection basket no later than December 20th . Thank you for
your co-operation in this matter.

(they may have been left out at the wrong location) please call

Do you have questions about parts of the Mass, prayer; Catholic celebrations or any part of the Catholic Faith?
There will be a new section in the bulletin where Father Gillis will
answer questions submitted via the collection basket. One question and
answer will appear weekly. (A special thank you to one of our parish
families for this idea.)
REgi-WEAR (Eco-friendly, quality, affordable clothing):
A new project that the RHUM committee will be taking on is a
consignment shop. Regi students will have the opportunity to purchase
discounted uniform items from the Upper Room once a week. Anyone
who has gently used uniform pieces that they would like to sell or
donate to our consignment shop is welcome to do so. Please drop
off donations to the Upper Room. All donations are to be clean
and on a hanger. Make sure all items are in good repair and stain
free. All proceeds will support charities and efforts of the RHUM

Feast of The Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary:
In the Advent season we begin to prepare spiritually for Christmas. Who
better to help us prepare for the celebration of the coming of Christ
than the Blessed Virgin Mary? As she is the patroness of our
Archdiocese, let us show our devotion and trust in her motherly
intercession by celebrating together as an archdiocese on December 8.
Archbishop O’Brien will be the presider and homilist at the 7:30
p.m. Mass at St. Mary’s Cathedral. Refreshments and socializing
will follow in École Cathédrale.
After 22 years of dedicated service, Sister Emily Doherty will retire
at the end of December as coordinator of the Office of Liturgy of the
Archdiocese of Kingston. In order to recognize in a particular
way Sister Doherty’s invaluable contribution to the liturgical
life of the Archdiocese over these many years, a reception will be held
at the Diocesan Centre on Thursday, December 17, 2009 from 2:30 pm to
4:30 pm. This special event is an opportunity for all those with whom
Sister has worked over these many years to express their personal
appreciation.
