14th Sunday in Ordinary Time
Jesus is always among us. His call is as clear as it was two millennia ago.
Surrounded by His brothers, sisters and neighbours,
He spoke to the gathering, teaching in His hometown synagogue.
He offered hope and salvation.
They chose not to listen.
What do we choose?

Prayer for Vocations
Lord God, in every generation you have provided shepherds after your own heart and spiritual fathers for the family of the Church.
Hear us in our day as we beg you: "Do not leave us orphans! Send us the Holy Spirit'"
Stir up in the hearts of those whom you have chosen to be priests an awareness of your call and the courage to say,
“Let it be done to me according to your word. "
By your Spirit, mould them in the heart of Mary to be the image of your Son, faithful stewards of your grace.
Shape them into zealous apostles, who will preach the Gospel with boldness, celebrate the Eucharist with reverence and be living signs of your love for all people.
We ask You this through   Christ our Lord,    Amen.

Joke
The ninety-five year old woman at the nursing home received a visit from one of her fellow church members.
“How are you feeling?” the visitor asked.           “Oh” said the lady, “I’m just worried sick!”
“What are you worried about, dear?” her friend asked.
“You look like you’re in good health. They are taking good care of you, aren’t they?”
“Yes, they are taking very good care of me.”
“Are you in any pain?” she asked.                       “No, I have never had a pain in my life.”
“Well, what are you worried about?” her friend asked again.
The lady leaned back in her rocking chair and slowly explained her major worry.
“Every close friend I ever had has already died and gone to heaven.  I’m afraid they’re all wondering where I went.”
