7th Sunday in Ordinary Time
By their act of faith, the friends of the paralyzed man became the
vehicle by which he was able to experience Jesus’ gentle healing
touch.
Today, that same faith can inspire us to daring action on behalf of those in need and those who seek justice.
“The one who believes in me will also do the works that I
do and, in fact, will do greater works than these” (John 14.12)

Coming Soon! Inspiring CDs and Brochures
We are proud to present a new educational opportunity called Lighthouse
Catholic Media, a practical and effective program to help Catholics
know their faith…to keep their faith. We all live busy lives.
Finding the time to learn about our faith is difficult, but now we are
able to meet you where you are! Whenever you have a CD player
available to you; in the car, at home, in the workplace, you can deepen
your understanding and love for the faith. Soon you will see a display
stand on your way into church offering 9 different CDs and three
different brochures. These feature some of the most inspiring
catholic speakers; bishops, priests, deacons and eminent catholic lay
men and women. The CDs and brochures will be available after Mass
on weekends. We ask for a donation of $5.00 per CD and $.50 per
brochure so that we may continue this program. When these are
gone a new set with different titles and speakers will be
ordered. We encourage you to take advantage of this wonderful
opportunity.

Lent Begins this Wednesday We are asked to take up the challenges of meaningful penance as expressed in
FAST & ABSTINENCE
(after 14 yrs). This means not to eat meat or some other
favourite food & the practice of moderation in all food & drink
on all Fridays of the year. FASTING (after 18 & up to 59) can
vary from person to person – some a total fast, taking only bread
and water; others adopt a vegetarian diet on a day of fast; others take
only one complete meal. Lent is a time of repentance – a
time for more prayer – a time of discipline and sacrifice –
a time to be generous and caring to the poor – all for the love
of God.

Joke
A minister delivered his sermon in ten minutes one Sunday morning, which was about half the usual length of his sermons.
He explained, “I regret to inform you that my dog,
who is very fond of eating paper, ate that portion of my sermon which I was unable to deliver this morning”.
After the service, a visitor from another church shook hands with the preacher and said,
“Pastor, if that dog of yours has any pups, I want to get one to give to my minister”
