3rd Sunday of Advent
John the Baptist had a mission: to point to Jesus Christ, the Messiah.
During Advent we come to the realization that God also calls us to point to the Messiah in all the places we live.
We are called by God to testify to the light.
We all have a share in making the twisted ways straight.
Every time we gather as God’s people,
God’s grace is strengthened in us and we reflect God’s marvelous light in the darkness of the world.

WAITING IN HOPE
Let us pray to God our Father, asking Him to help us love others
as we wait in hope for our salvation.
All praise to you, Father of all, ruler of the universe:
you have loved us so fully that you sent your Son to save us.
He loved us and gave his life for us,
dying so that we might die to sin,
rising so that we might wait in hope for your salvation.
Help us work in faith and love as we wait with hope until he comes again in glory.
All glory and praise are yours, Father,
for ever and ever.
Amen.

JOKE
A police officer pulls over a car load of nuns...
Officer: “Sister, this is a 65 MPH highway–why are you going so slow?”
Sister: “Sir, I saw a lot of signs that said 22, not 65.”
Officer: “Oh sister, that’s not the speed limit. That’s the name of the highway you’re on!”
Sister: “Oh! Silly Me! Thanks for letting me know. I’ll be more careful.”
At this point the officer looks into the back seat where the other nuns are shaking and trembling.
Officer: “Excuse me sister, what’s wrong with your friends
back there? They’re shaking something terrible.”
Sister: Oh, we just got off of highway 119.”
