1st Sunday of Advent
In today’s Gospel, Mark’s depiction of the doorkeeper watching out for the sudden appearance of the Lord
is an image of what we should be doing all year long - and especially during the season of Advent.
Let us open our eyes in faith to see God present and active in our lives.
Let us open our hearts and our homes to the Lord who comes to us daily both as stranger and friend.

JOKE
A young couple came into the church office to fill out a pre-marriage questionnaire form.
The young man, who had never talked to a pastor before, was quite nervous and the pastor tried to put him at ease.
When they came to the question, “Are you entering this marriage of your own free will?” there was a long pause.
Finally, the girl looked over at the apprehensive young man and said, “Put down yes”.
