25th Sunday in Ordinary Time
In today’s Gospel we are taught that everyone receives the same reward - even those who turn up at the last minute.
Here we meet our God who is universally generous and each week at Sunday Eucharist,
we are renewed, fed with the body and blood of Christ,
not because we worked for it and deserve it
but because God is more generous than we can ever imagine.

--  The Bishops’ Collection for the Needs of the Church in Canada will be held next weekend. The monies raised will be sent to our diocese, which will use the total amount collected to pay its annual contribution to the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (CCCB). This contribution is determined according to a per capita calculation that takes into account the number of Catholics in each diocese of Canada.

The CCCB offices are located at 2500 Don Reid Drive, Ottawa. A staff of approximately 40 work in different services, supporting the pastoral work of the Bishops nationally and internationally. Evangelization, faith education, ecumenism, social justice, liturgy, theology, the Marriage Tribunal... these are some of the areas where the Bishops are specially involved.

This Collection for the Needs of the Church in Canada is one of five “special collections” in the yearly calendar of the Catholic Church in Canada.

JUSTICE AND PEACE CORNER :   Local Poverty
God calls us as Catholics to adopt a preferential option for the poor.  In this election, we must urge our politicians to work towards a national poverty reduction strategy that sets definite targets, timetables and measures for success. The Ontario Catholic Bishops and our Archdiocesan Justice and Peace Commission support efforts to reduce our overall poverty rates by 25% over the next five years.  For more information with which to approach your own political candidates go to : www.25in5.ca

Joke
The hymnbooks in our church are designated G or R, depending on the colour of their covers (green or red).
As we were waiting for the service to begin on Christmas Eve.
Our 9 year old son was reading the bulletin.
He turned to his uncle and said, “We can’t sing the hymns today they’re rated R.”
