In today’s readings, hearing is of the heart, not the ears.
Any love we experience comes from an intentional opening of our heart’s ear to the word of another-or of God.
Matthew repeats Jesus’ words: where two or three gather, with hearts open to hear, Jesus is present.

Holy Name Church Christmas Bazaar 2008 will be on November 8th . There will be a meeting on Tuesday, September 9 at 7:30 pm to plan this major fund-raising event. Please come out to discuss ways of improving the Bazaar . Bring some fresh new ideas.

SPAGHETTI DINNER : The Knights of Columbus will sponsor a Parish Spaghetti Dinner at Msgr. Raby House - Saturday, Sept. 13 from 6 -7:30 pm. Dinner will include spaghetti with vegetable or meat sauce, salad, rolls and dessert.
Cost - $10/adult, $5.00/child under 10 or $30/family. Come out with family and friends and meet our new priest, Father Cosmas Ajawara.

Ordination to the Priesthood

St. Michael the Archangel Church in Belleville.

Archbishop’s Dinner: The Algonquin and Lakeshore Catholic Education Foundation invites you to attend the Archbishop’s Dinner , in honour of the Most Revered Brendan O’Brien, on Wednesday, October 22 at the Days Inn and Conference Centre in Kingston. Cocktails at 6:00 pm and dinner at 7:00 pm. Bereaved Families of Ontario will hold their monthly Mother’s night on Tuesday, September 9th , starting at 7:30 pm at 721 Progress Ave, Unit #1.

Workshop for the Year of St. Paul will be held at St. Paul the Apostle Parish in Kingston on Saturday September 20 from 9:30 am to 1:00 pm followed by lunch. Archbishop O’Brien will give an introduction to the year of St. Paul. Other speakers include Fr. Shawn Hughes, Fr. Leo Byrne, Mariola Gozdek, Sr. E. Doherty and Sr. L. Kearney. Entertainment to Seniors’ Committee of the St. Joseph’s Pastoral Council is sponsoring an afternoon of musical entertainment, featuring the talent of Francoise Levesque & Edmond Lanteigne, in their parish hall, on Thursday, September 25 from 1 to 3 pm.
