Easter Message from Archbishop O’Brien

The Resurrection is not simply an event which has taken place in the past but affirms belief in the enduring presence of the Risen Christ among us today.

When we read Scriptures, we see that the meaning and impact of the empty tomb were grasped differently among the deciples.  John saw and believed, whereas others, such as Thomas, would require an experience of the presence of the Risen Lord to convince them.

At Easter, the Church affirms and celebrates her belief in the Resurrection; however, each one of us has our own personal pace at which the implications of this belief sink in and take hold of our lives.  May the celebration of Easter 2008 be the occasion for an ever deeper insight into the meaning of Christ’s Resurrection for your life.

“Christ is Risen” “Indeed He is Risen.”
