Missionaries are able to do difficult work because they put their faith
and trust in God. Their relationship with God is what helps them
face the challenges of work. Jesus invited the disciples to
achieve greatness by being of service to others.

FOR THE PAST FEW YEARS THE FOLLOWING PEOPLE HAVE SPENT MANY HOURS
MEETING TO DEVELOP PLANS FOR A CHURCH IN GREENWOOD PARK. LAST
WEEK THEY PRESENTED DRAWINGS OF THE PROPOSED CHURCH. IT IS AN
EXCELLENT PROPOSAL; THE RESULT OF THEIR HARD WORK, DILIGENCE, EXPERTISE
AND PASSION FOR HOLY NAME PARISH.

----If anybody was not here last weekend and missed picking up the
drawings of the proposed church for Greenwood Park, there are some
extra copies at the entrance. A town hall style meeting to discuss the
Greenwood Park Church will be on Monday, November 27, 7:00 p.m.
at St. Martha School.------
Bible Study -There is no Bible Study on Tuesday because of Eucharistic Devotions.
Drive for St Vincent de Paul will take place on Oct 28/29
St. Vincent de Paul Society has informed us that their greatest need is
for non-perishable food items. Therefore, food will go to St. Vincent
de Paul but, clothing items will go to the parish bazaar clothing table.
Clothing left over from the bazaar will go to the March of Dimes.
There is an urgent need for food. Please be generous next weekend.
Parish Variety Show & Pot Luck Dessert - at St Martha School - Saturday, Oct 28th 7 to 9pm.
Holy Name Dinner and Dance on Sat. Nov. 18 at
Rideau Acres Hall-Refreshments
at 6:30 p.m. Turkey Buffet and all the trimmings at 7 p.m. Dancing from
8 until 11p.m. with DJ Jack Thompson. Tickets are $25 each.
There will be no tickets sold at the door. Everyone is welcome

for looking after the grounds once again this year: Pat, Mike, Tom
& Shawn Stenson, Stan Pietak, Steve Coombs, Herman Veenendaal &
Roger Levac. A special “thank you” to Al Sullivan, who
not only assisted in the cutting of the grass, but kept the
equipment in running order & anything else that needed to be
done. Thanks to Gary Compeau, the Weed Man, for the lawn care as
well.
The Knights of Columbus of Holy Name Parish are hosting a
Blood Donor Clinic on Tuesday, Nov 14th from 3 to 7 pm at
797 Princess Street. All those 17 years of age & over - men & women are welcome to donate blood. Sign-up in the entrance.
Holy Name/ Knights of Columbus Spaghetti Supper
- Saturday Nov 25th - Sittings at 5, 6 or 7 pm at Holy Name
School -Take-out as well - $6/adult & $3/children - you can also
purchase a jar of sauce.
Every diocese in Ontario must have a volunteer screening committee in each parish.
Our Parish Screening Committee
has begun screening with Children’s Liturgy, Pastor Care Team,
Mass Ministries. Other parish volunteers will be screened
in the coming weeks.

15th Anniversary of Rosary for Life
- we have traditionally celebrated by gathering at St Mary’s
Cathedral to pray for the protection of life from conception to natural
death and for an increased appreciation for the dignity of life in our
Canadian society. Please join Archbishop Emeritus Francis J.
Spence on Sunday Oct 29th 3pm to pray the Rosary for Life.
Hotel Dieu Hospital Coat Drive
- Volunteers urgently need to help with the distribution of donated
coats in our “Coat Room”. One hour per day from 2:00
p.m.-3:00 p .m. Mondays to Fridays from Nov. /06 until March/07.

Newman House Series on Ethics and Public Life-
Senator Hugh Segal, longtime political activist, scholar and author,
will speak on moral principles in partisan politics: “Adversarial
Politics and the Ethical Imperative”. The public lecture
will be given on Mon. Oct. 30 at 7:30 p.m. in the School of Policy
Studies, Queen’ University. All welcome.

St Mary’s Cemetery- Sunday Nov 5th 3pm.
The annual Diocesan Retreat for Separated and/or Divorced
is Friday evening 7:30 p.m. Nov. 17 until 6:00p.m Nov. 18 at the
Providence Spirituality Centre. The theme is, ‘Drawing
Closer to Jesus’. The fee is $35 for commuters; 480 for

All Hallows’ Eve: The Real Hallowe’en
- Halloween has its origins in the Christian vigil for the Feast of All
Saints. You are welcome to join the Newman Hose Choir for an All
Saint’ Vigil at the Cathedral: Tuesday, Oct. 31st, at 7:30
p.m. The hour of prayer, hymns, candlelight and readings from the
