Jesus says to be last of all and servant of all.  He challenges us in a world of competition and a “me first “ mentality. He hopes that we will look around at those that our suffering and make a difference in their lives by caring and serving others which demands humility, understanding and love.

Bible study is Tuesdays, at 7:30pm in St. Joseph’s room.  We will study the last & very interesting book of the Bible, “Revelations”.  Everyone is welcome -you will enjoy it.  Tuesday evenings 7:30 to 9 pm . Books supplied. This week: Chapters 1 and 2.           
                               
Parish Eucharistic Devotions - Oct 22nd-24th at 7:00 p.m.  Please reserve these evenings to hear Friar Domenic McGee, a very dynamic and inspirational preacher.  Services each evening at 7 p.m

The parish celebration of the Sacrament of Confirmation will be at St. Mary’s Cathedral on Thurs, November 2nd at 7:00 p.m.  Registration will be at meetings for grade 7 & 8 students and their parents on September 25th & 27th -25th for Holy Name School and public schools, 27th for St. Martha School.

The Mission Committee is sponsoring a communion breakfast on Sunday, October 1, noon at Rideau Acres.  Deborah Lefebvre will speak about her latest African experience.  A delicious breakfast. $10/person .  Tickets can be purchased after mass $10/person or $30/family

»    Parish life always gets busier once the summer is over.  Holy Name Parish is a great parish with lots of activities and lots of needs.  Each one of you is an important part of our parish.  If you can help with Thursday adoration for an hour, Children’s liturgy, Reading, Choir, Etc.  Please call(613)546-0418 or sign the list at the entrance.

Stress in Your Marriage?  Sign up for the Retrouvaille Weekend.  Retrouvaille is a program for married couples that feel bored, frustrated, or angry in their marriage.  Some experience coldness and simply shut down.  Others experience conflict and arguments in their relationship.  This program has helped numerous couples experiencing marital difficulty. Servants of the Light Prayer Group invites you to attend a Healing Mass at Hotel Dieu Hospital Chapel on Friday, September 29th at 7:30 p.m.  Rosary at 7:00 p.m.  Celebrant will be Reverend Rod McNeil.  Please use Sydenham Street entrance.

New Life Group Meeting: a Catholic Ministry for the Separated and Divorced on alternate Tuesday evenings.   On September 19th the topic is Loneliness vs. Aloneness.  The facilitator will be Dr. Brian McConville. 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the Diocesan Centre on Palace Road

Taize Prayer an hour of chants from Taize, candlelight and meditative prayer will be a the Cathedral on Friday, September 29 at 7:30 p.m.  You are invited to join the Newman House choir in this beautiful, contemplative service.

 “Introducing Possibilities for Liturgical Ministry in Parishes” - workshop will look at possible roles that lay people might have in the liturgical & sacramental life of  parishes, working  with their pastor.  These roles include Baptism, Confirmation, First Communion preparation teams, praying with the sick, assisting families with preparation of parish liturgies, such as baptisms, funerals, weddings, & prayer services in nursing homes.  This workshop takes place on Sat, Sept 23rd  at the Diocesan Centre.  Registration is from 9:00-9:30 am.  Please preregister by September 18  by calling 548-4461.  The parish will pay for the registration fee.

Prayer for Vocations
O God, who has chosen the Apostles to propagate the faith & to establish Your Holy Church throughout the world, we earnestly beseech You to choose from amongst our people many priests, deacons, religious brothers & sisters and lay persons who will gladly devote their entire lives in making you known & loved by all.  Through the intercession of our Blessed Lady, we ask this through Christ our Lord.  Amen.
