Jesus came to replace the numerous spiritual callisthenics of His day with one great law of love.  There are many ways to break the commandment of love - live a religion of avoidance, choosing to concentrate on what not to do or spend your life concentrating on how narrow the door is.  Live the law of love to its fullness and your soul will fit perfectly through the narrow door.  Within each soul there exists a vast and unique capacity for love.  Each life well lived holds a key to the narrow door.  How are you living your love?                                                                       ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

                  The week of August 22nd prayers will be offered in the home of Annette Gordon.
                  The week of August 29th prayers will be offered in the home of Lois Halligan.
                  The week of September 5th prayers will be offered in the Murphy/Bolger home.

OUR PARISH WELLNESS MINISTRY includes monthly Masses at the Nursing Homes & taking Holy Communion to our homebound parishioners.  For a Pastoral visit, call the parish office - 546-0418.
The Drop In Centre, St Joseph’s Room, has been postponed till the Fall.

MAINTENANCE COLLECTION TO DATE $18,385.00.  It is not too late to contribute.  We hope to start replacing Church roof soon.  Thank you for your generosity.

SO FAR 19 PEOPLE have registered for the ALPHA program, which will be Tuesday evenings beginning SEPT 7th .  We have room for a few more, so sign up soon. Each evening begins with a meal at 6:15, a terrific video about an intriguing topic, followed by discussion.  You will love it.
FOR THOSE WHO ATTENDED THE ALPHA PROGRAM last year: we need your help to organize this year’s activities.  Please attend a meeting on Thurs, AUG 26th 7:30 pm in St Joseph’s Room.

HOCKEY REGISTRATION FOR THE CHURCH ATHLETIC LEAGUE - watch the newspaper & sign up for  Holy Name Parish - we have 4 teams.

SENIORS’ BRIDGE -in St Joseph’s Room beginning with lunch at 11 am - last one  SEPT 1st  Thank you to all who support Seniors’ Bridge - a special “thank you” to Lois Halligan who organizes them, her faithful helpers, Helen Payne, Margaret Carey, Jack Boyle, Odette Denison, Nelda Belanger & Karla Nichols.  Over a $1000.00 is raised for the Parish through these efforts.  Many thanks to all.

PARISH COMMUNION BREAKFAST - will take place Sunday, SEPT 26th after the 10:30 am Mass at Rideau Acres.  Guest Speaker will be Ann Hanley.  Reserve this date so you can enjoy a wonderful talk, delicious food and excellent fellowship.

NEW LIFE GROUP MEETINGS (Catholic Ministry for the Separated & Divorced) - alternate Tuesdays - 7:30 to 9:30 pm-Diocesan Centre, 390 Palace Rd - August 24th - Finding & Experiencing Forgiveness

REMEMBER OUR PARISH SUPPORTS “PARTNERS IN MISSION” (FOOD BANK) - each week because the needs is so great for many families.  When you come to Mass next week bring a non-perishable item for the Food Bank.  Volunteers deliver our Parish food donations by Sunday noon.

BIBLE STUDY OF THE GOSPEL OF MATTHEW -Tues evenings 7:30 -9 pm in the Church Sacristy - it will be very interesting.  All books are supplies - plan on attending - begins SEPT 28th .

O God, who has chosen the Apostles to propagate the faith & to establish Your Holy Church throughout the world, we earnestly beseech You to choose from amongst our people many priests, deacons, religious brothers & sisters and lay persons who will gladly devote their entire lives in making YOU known & loved by all.   Through the intercession of Our Blessed Lady, we ask this through Christ our Lord.   Amen.
