20th SUNDAY in ORDINARY TIME
August 14, 2005
+++++++++++++++ Just as Christ acknowledged and rewarded the Canaanite woman’s humility of faith and perseverence, let us also recognize these virtues in one another.  Jesus neither judged nor condemned her as she fell to her knees at His feet.  So too are we called to kneel before one another, washing away our own failures by accepting each other as we are, and asking our brother and sisters for forgiveness when needed. Our reward is a shared path of Christian kindness and fellowship. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

PARISH WELLNESS MINISTRY includes monthly Masses at the Nursing Homes & taking Holy Communion to our homebound parishioners.  For a Pastoral visit, call the  parish office - 546-0418.

REMEMBER OUR PARISH SUPPORTS “PARTNERS IN MISSION”.  Bring a non-perishable item to Mass next week for the Food Bank.  Volunteers deliver our Parish food donations weekly.
 
HOLY NAME PARISH  has four hockey teams in the Church Athletic League.  Registration for next winter is in August  - sign up for Holy Name Hockey.  Check the newspaper.

KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS - TENTS FOR RENT - CALL PAT STENSON 544-7108.

THE FOLLOW-UP TO ALPHA will be Tuesday evenings beginning SEPT 20th .  The format will be the same: 6:15 - simple meal; 7pm-video; 7:35-small discussion group; 8:40-final prayers.  We have room for 25 people.  Sign up this week.
 
BIRTHRIGHT  believes that “It is the right of every pregnant woman to give birth & the right of every child to be born”.  In order to carry on their incredible work of helping pregnant women of all ages - cash donations are needed. Call 542-8321 if you can help.

SENIORS BRIDGE: WEDNESDAY AUGUST 17TH & 31ST 11:00 am in St. Joseph’s Room.

THIS YEAR’S PROGRAM FOR TUESDAY EVENINGS IS CALLED: “KNOWING GOD BETTER”.
Everybody is invited.  The format will be: 6:15 - Meal; 7 pm - Video; 7:35 - small group discussion; 8:40 - Final prayers.  This program helps Catholics understand their faith more fully & to better appreciate God’s action int heir lives.  Sign up begins today.  First evening is SEPT 20th .

BAZAAR MEETING - MONDAY AUG 15th 7:30 pm- St Joseph’s Room -  do we need to change or can improvements be made - how can we get more parishioners involved - if you were involved last year or wish to be involved this year  - please come to this meeting.  The Bazaar is a Parish event & our largest fund-raiser  - so please get involved.

CATHOLIC WOMEN’S LEAGUE will offer coffee, juice & goodies after the 8:45 am Sunday Mass, August 21st at the front of the Church, weather permitting of course..

ATTENTION PARISH TEENAGERS:   the Parish Youth Group will begin a new year of meetings, events & activities next month - more information next week.
