The readings this week challenge us to re-evaluate the true treasures in our life.  Can we do without the reward programmes and points incentives so many companies and stores offer?  Buy more, save more.   What would happen if we were to put away in a box all the useless trinkets and gadgets we have acquired over the years?  We’d forget about them, realizing we never needed them anyway.  In the parables this Sunday, Jesus offers us a way to live simply and wholeheartedly.  He asks us to invest in heaven through prayer and Christian actions, and to  find value in time spent with Him, with each other. We are priceless to our Father in Heaven, so why measure our worth by earthly standards?

VOCATION VIEW: God knows what we want before we ask.
God knows who we are before we discern.
God invites us to pray: to ask and to discern.

PRAYER FOR VOCATIONS

O God, who has chosen the Apostles to propagate the faith & to establish Your Holy Church throughout the world, we earnestly beseech You to choose from amongst our people many priests, deacons, religious brothers & sisters and lay persons who will gladly devote their entire lives in making YOU known & loved by all.   Through the intercession of Our Blessed Lady, we ask this through Christ our Lord.   Amen.

RELIGION CAN BE FUNNY

Somebody has said there are only two kinds of people in the world.  There are those who wake up in the morning and say, “Good morning, Lord,” and there are those who wake up in the morning and say, “Good Lord, it’s morning.”
