13th Sunday in Ordinary Time - July 2, 2006
Faith is a wonderful gift that helps us to believe that God can make a
difference when our lives become unbearable and we want to give
up. In today’s gospel the woman with the haemorrhage and
the parents of the little girl who was dying believed that Jesus would
help them in their desperation. Jesus cured the woman because of
her faith and the little girl because of the faith of her
parents. Jesus is waiting to help us and the people we know. If
we do not think we have sufficient faith, we need to ask for
more. He will always provide.

Vocation View
Can you imagine Jesus facing His fate in the Garden of Gethsemani, deciding,
“no, I’ll not go through with this?”
No, vocation means perseverance.
Prayer for Vocations
O God, who has chosen the Apostles to propagate the faith & to
establish Your Holy Church throughout the world, we earnestly beseech
You to choose from amongst our people many priests, deacons, religious
brothers & sisters and lay persons who will gladly devote their
entire lives in making you known & loved by all. Through the
intercession of our Blessed Lady, we ask this through Christ our
Lord. Amen
Joke
It seems a pastor from Maine skipped Sunday mass to go bear hunting in
the mountains. As he turned the corner along the path, he and a
bear collided. The pastor stumbled backwards, slipped off the
trail and began tumbling down the mountain with the bear in hot
pursuit. Finally the pastor crashed into a boulder, sending his
rifle in one direction and breaking both legs. As the bear closed
in, the pastor cried out in desperation, “Lord, I’m sorry
for what I have done.” Please forgive me and save me!
Lord, please make that bear a Christian.” Suddenly the bear
skidded to a halt at the pastor’s feet, fell to its knees,
clasped its paws together and said, “Bless us, O Lord, for these
thy gifts which we are about to receive....”
