10th SUNDAY in ORDINARY TIME Judging a book by its cover is what mortals are good at. We are told within our workplaces and social circles that first impressions are everything. How many of us are lying to ourselves and others about our imperfections? Why do we feel the need to put makeup on before grocery shopping? There is no such thing as perfection: the perfect parish, the perfect family, the perfect house, the perfect car. Impressions are not everything, and what a relief! In Jesus’ words, “I have come to call not the righteous but sinners.” Perfection has already come, and He was crucified on the cross.
