6th SUNDAY OF EASTER- MAY 13, 2007
HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY!!
Jesus says that if we love the Father we will keep His Word. What is God’s Word?   Pope Paul VI says that “all that we believe is contained in the Word of God, written or handed down, and which the Church proposes for belief as divinely revealed”.  If we listen to the Word of God and the teachings of the Church and live by them we will be loving the Father.

Statue of Mary (Please leave in the entrance after the Mass you attend - for the next family)
The week of May 6st  prayers will be offered in the Vanhorn/Cantin home.
The week of May 13th prayers will be offered in the home of Lucy Lariviere

Please pray for the repose of the soul of Father James McGarvey.  Father McGarvey was the pastor here at Holy Name during the 1980's.  Also, he grew up in this Parish, retired and lived in our Parish until his death this week.  Before entering the seminary , he was in the air force during World War II.  He was shot down and was a prisoner of war.  As a priest, he was known for his unselfish service to his Parishioners.  He was very conscientious and well-organized.  We will all miss him.
May he rest in peace.

Every week you are asked to try to bring food items when you come to Mass.  The St. Vincent de Paul Society is in constant need of food to give to poor families. Help us to feed the hungry.

Thanks to the Mission Committee & your generous participation, the Parish Fish Fry was a huge success - $850.00 was raised.  With additional funds being added from the Mission Account, our parish was able to send cheques for $700. to parishioner, Deborah Lefebvre, for the “Buy-a-Net” project to reduce malaria in Uganda; to parishioner, Dr Karen Yeates, in Tanzania, for her work at an HIV/AIDS Clinic & to help support a Women’s Coop there - also, because 5% of each Sunday’s collection is put into our Mission Account, we have funds available to help those in need locally, nationally & internationally.  Your generosity to Holy Name Parish continues to be wonderful & allows us to help local families like the Yaworski’s whose daughter, Katrina, just had a heart transplant.  Recently, the Mission Committee met this past week to distribute help to the Yaworski Family, L’Arche Canada & our African projects.  Thank You again for your generosity!
