3rd  SUNDAY of EASTER
April 10, 2005
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Two disciples met a stranger on their way to Emmaus and begin updating him on recent events in Jerusalem. And what events they are: a prophet, a crucifixion, a missing body, angels!  The stranger rebuffs them for their lack of vision and spends the rest of the walk reviewing the history of God’s People from Moses to Jesus, complete with scriptural references and two thousand years of prophecy.  Enthralled, the disciples ask the stranger to stay in Emmaus- He accepts, and  blesses and breaks bread with them - it is clear now - He is Jesus!
The two can hardly wait to tell the others - their tongues rejoice and in today’s liturgy we’re still hearing the echoes.   Their hindsight gives us insight into the ordinary events of our lives, into the presence of the Lord in the strangers with whom we walk.

                 The week of Apr 10th prayers will be offered in the Mulholland Family home.
                 The week of Apr 17th prayers will be offered in the home of Dino and Erondina Vuk.
NOTE:   Please leave the statue in the entrance after the Mass you attend for the next family to take home.
Please sign up to have the Statue and Family Prayers in your home.

OUR PARISH WELLNESS MINISTRY includes monthly Masses at the Nursing Homes & taking Holy Communion to our homebound parishioners.  For a Pastoral visit, call the  parish office - 546-0418.

REMEMBER OUR PARISH SUPPORTS “PARTNERS IN MISSION” (Food Bank) each week because the need is so great for many families.  Bring a non-perishable item to Mass next week for the Food Bank.  Volunteers deliver our Parish food donations weekly.

YOUTH GROUP NEWS:  APPRECIATION NIGHT will be Saturday, APR 16th at 7 pm in St Joseph’s Room.  Come & be prepared to have fun.

THE ARCHBISHOP’S DINNER - The Algonquin & Lakeshore Catholic Education Foundation warmly welcomes you to attend in support of Catholic education - the evening will be hosted by Most Reverend Anthony G. Meagher and will honour Most Reverend Francis J. HOLY NAME C.W.L. - MOTHER/DAUGHTER (FRIEND) POT LUCK SUPPER will take place at Holy Name School on Wednesday MAY 4th 6pm. Guest Speaker, Patricia Arney, from the Hearing Society.

OUR PARISH HAS FIVE YOUNG PEOPLE going to WORLD YOUTH DAY in Cologne, Germany this
summer.  As their Parish we will be helping them raise funds for this important experience.  More information later.

THANKS TO LOIS HALLIGAN & CLAIRE LEGERE for preparing a delicious dinner for the priests after their Holy Hour last Tuesday.  Thanks to  Christine Mears & Karla Nichols for their help.

O God, who has chosen the Apostles to propagate the faith & to establish Your Holy Church throughout the world, we earnestly beseech You to choose from amongst our people many priests, deacons, religious brothers & sisters and lay persons who will gladly devote their entire lives in making YOU known & loved by all.   Through the intercession of Our Blessed Lady, we ask this through Christ our Lord.   Amen.
