Seventh Sunday of Ordinary Time- Feburary 18, 2007
Jesus says to love our enemies and to do good to those who hate us. This is not an easy command of Our Lord.  We are able to do as Jesus asks of us only if we have a ‘super-natural’ view of life.  We should be able to love others because we love God. When we find it difficult to like someone Jesus will give us the grace to love them if we ask Him.

As you know a committee of Parishioners was to meet with the Archdiocese to obtain permission to build a church in Greenwood Park.
With the death of Archbishop Meagher all committees are suspended; therefore,
we will have to wait for the new Archbishop before we can make our presentation about the Greenwood Park Church.
This may delay our plans by a year or so.

WORLD DAY OF PRAYER 2007
- United Under God’s Tent - an ecumenical celebration at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church on Friday, March 2nd at 1:30 pm. Guest : Rev. Dr. David Ward Pastor of St. Paul’s Anglican Church.

Lent begins this Wednesday.  We are asked to take up the challenges of meaningful penance as expressed in FAST & ABSTINENCE (after 14yrs.) This means not to eat meat or some other favourite food & the practice of moderation in all food & drink on all FRIDAYS of the year.  FASTING(after 18 & up to 59) can vary from person to person-some a total fast, taking only bread & water; others adopt a vegetarian diet on a day of fast; others still take only one complete meal.  Lent is a time of repentance- a time for more prayer- a time of discipline and sacrifice - a time to be generous and caring to the poor - all for the love of God.

Prayer for Vocations
O God, who has chosen the Apostles to propagate the faith & to establish Your Holy Church, throughout the world, we earnestly beseech You to choose from amongst our people many priests deacons, religious brothers & sisters and lay persons who will gladly devote their entire lives in making you known & loved by all.  Through the intercession of our Blessed Lady, we ask this through Christ our Lord.   Amen.

Joke
Six year old Angie and her four-year-old brother Joel were sitting together in church.  Joel giggled, sang, and talked out loud.  Finally, his big sister had enough.  “You’re not supposed to talk out loud in church.” “Why?  Who’s going to stop me?”  Joel asked.  Angie pointed to the back of the church and said, “See those two men standing by the door?  They’re hushers.”
