Fourth Sunday in Ordinary Time
God’s voice has the power to change hearts. In Mark’s gospel the promise of this authority is fulfilled in Jesus.  Jesus is different from the scribes who preach rules and laws.  Rather than ruling by fear or intimidation Jesus brings healing and wholeness.  By our baptism and our participation in the eucharist we are called to share God’s love and care.

C.W.L. NEWS

C.W.L.  Social & Silent Auction-Feb. 1st. - all the proceeds will go to the Sisters of St Joseph to continue their very important work in the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere - Haiti.  Our donations may go to a nutrition centre to feed and medically care for between 120 and 150 children at any given time until they are healthy and have reached the stage of growth and development for their age.  After this they come to the centre each month to be weighed and to receive a vitamin supplement to insure that they continue to stay healthy. You can be part of this effort: by accepting this invitation.  Come & spend a delightful evening with other ladies of the parish, enjoy some refreshments and a video about  the missions titled: “To the Ends of the Earth”.  And if you see an item that takes your fancy - bid on it - if yours is the winning bid - you can take home a nice gift and  have the satisfaction of knowing that you have helped a child in Haiti - you can made a difference.

VOCATION VIEW
The Lord days: “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; before you were born I dedicated you.”  Always listen to an Old Friend.

Prayer for Vocations
O God. who has chosen the Apostles to propagate the faith & to establish Your Holy Church throughout the world, we earnestly beseech You to choose from amongst  our people many priests, deacons, religious brothers & sisters and lay persons who will gladly devote their entire lives in making YOU known & loved by all. Through the intercession of our Blessed Lady, we ask this through Christ our Lord.   Amen

Joke
At Junior Liturgy they were teaching how God created everything, including human beings.  Little Johnny seemed especially intent when they told him how Eve was created out of one of Adam’s ribs.  Later in the week his mother noticed him lying down as though he was ill, and said, “Johnny, what is the matter?”  Little Johnny responded, “I have pain in my side.  I think I’m going to have a wife.”
