3rd Sunday in Ordinary Time
Jesus asks some ordinary fishermen to abandon everything that is familiar to them.
Can we leave our nets , our fears and our doubts behind.
“Repent, for the Kingdom of Heaven has come near,” says Jesus.
When we repent we will be free of fear and find the courage and strength to answer Jesus when He calls.

Start planning now for Lent which begins on Ash Wednesday, February 6th. There will be 3 services that day: 9:30 am; 1pm; and 7pm.  Also on Friday evenings during Lent we celebrate the Stations of the Cross at 7pm. followed by mass.

Easter is always the first Sunday after the full moon, after the spring equinox (March 21st) .  This year Easter is March 23rd so Lent begins on Ash Wednesday, February 6th.  Therefore, our annual pancake breakfast will be Sunday, February 3rd.

Bring your OLD PALM BRANCHES next week so Father Shea can burn them to make ashes for Ash  Wednesday .

JOKE
A mother was telling her little girl what her own childhood was like.
“We used to skate outside on a pond.
I had a swing made from a tire; it hung from a tree in our front yard.
We rode our pony.  We picked wild raspberries in the woods.”
The little girl was wide-eyed taking this in.
At last she said, “ I sure wish I’d gotten to know you sooner!”
