2ND SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME Who exactly is this Jesus whose birth, epiphany and baptism we have recently celebrated? And what enduring relevance has God’s entry into time for us? The voices of Isaiah, John the Baptist and Paul witness to the identity and mission of the Word become flesh. Isaiah anticipates a servant who will bring light & salvation to all - John affirms Jesus as “Lamb of God,” as Son whose intimacy with God enables him to baptize with the Holy Spirit. Paul teaches that grace & peace are God’s gifts to us through Jesus. With Isaiah, John & Paul we are called to witness, to testify to the light through our words, our actions, our lives.

The Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops published a statement: “The Catholic Church will continue to celebrate the Sacrament of Marriage as the union of a man and a woman.....affirming that marriage is a loving, life-giving partnership between a man and a woman. Its purpose is the good of the couple and the procreation and education of children - and thus necessary for the survival of society. As the committed and stable relationship of a man and a woman, marriage is basic for the stability of society and family life. In so far as it is a social institution, marriage is concerned with the common good, not individual rights.....As pastoral leaders of the Catholic community in Canada, we intend to be part of the debate (regarding future legislation). We encourage all Canadians to participate in the forthcoming debate in any way that they can and to make their views known to their representatives in the Hose of Commons and Senate.

VOCATION VIEW: There was a wedding between God and us: “to have O God, who has chosen the Apostles to propagate the faith & to establish Your Holy Church throughout the world, we earnestly beseech You to choose from amongst our people many priests, deacons, religious brothers & sisters and lay persons who will gladly devote their entire lives in making YOU known & loved by all. Through the intercession of Our Blessed Lady, we ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
and to hold, from this day forward, for better or for worse.” God is
Faithful and true. Let us do the same.PRAYER FOR VOCATIONS
