Baptism of the Lord
In baptizing Jesus, John transfers his authority to Jesus publicly so that there is no question in people’s minds about whom to follow.
From the very beginning of Jesus’ ministry, God is behind Him, before Him and with Him.
As Jesus is reborn through the waters of baptism, with the spirit of God upon Him, John’s announcement of God’s promised one is fulfilled.
Light comes to the nations!

Welcome to Father Mac Burke, who is covering while our pastor is away on holidays.  As you will recall, Father Burke was here for six months in 2001 while Father Shea was away on Sabatical.

JOKE
A little girl, dressed in her Sunday best, was running as fast as she could, trying not to be late for Bible class.
As she ran she prayed, “Dear Lord, please don’t let me be late! Dear Lord, please don’t let me be late!”
As she was running and praying, she tripped on a curb and fell, getting her clothes dirty and tearing her dress.
She got up, brushed herself off, and started running again.
As she ran she once again began to pray, “Dear Lord, please don’t let me be late... but please don’t push me either!”
