The Mission Committee is a small group of parishioners involved in organizing fundraising events within our community to help support those in need at local, national and international levels. We would welcome any parishioners with a willingness to bring new ideas and perspectives to join us at our meetings 2-3 times a year. We would especially like to invite members of the Polish Community to join with us in searching for the best opportunities to help those in need.

Win an all expense paid trip to Rio de Janeiro!
St. Mark’s Parish (Prescott) is sponsoring an essay writing competition with the grand prize being an all expense paid pilgrimage to Rio de Janeiro to participate in World Youth Day (WYD) 2013 – July 20 – July 31. Value of prize is $4,200.00.

This competition is open to any full-time high school or post secondary student who will be at least 18 years of age by departure date and are interested in taking a faith filled pilgrimage to Rio where they will join in solidarity with Pope Benedict XVI and youth from all around the world in offering public worship to God.

The essay is to be titled “Why I want to participate in WYD 2013”. Deadline for submissions is Midnight Easter 2012.

One winner is guaranteed, but hopefully the financial support from individuals in our communities will be such that multiple winners are possible. Donations in support of this competition will be accepted up until Easter 2013.

To help, please make your  financial gift payable to St. Mark’s Youth and mail it to the administrator of this competition and pilgrimage leader Mr. Tony Jozefowicz, P.O. Box 411, Prescott, ON K0E 1T0. Charitable receipts will be issued for donations of $25 or more. There are no administrative costs associated with this competition. Every cent will go to the youth. Something to ponder – Cell phones vs. The Bible:
Ever wonder what would happen if we treated our Bible like we treat our cell phone?
What if we carried it in our purses or pockets?
What if we flipped through it several times a day?
What if we turned back to get it if we forgot it?
What if we used it to receive messages from the text?
What if we treated it like we couldn’t live without it?
What if we gave it to kids as gifts?
What if we used it when we traveled?
What if we used it in case of emergency?
This is something to make you go...hmm... where is my Bible? Oh, and one more thing. Unlike our cell phone, we don’t have to worry about our Bible being disconnected because Jesus already paid the bill. Makes you stop and think where are my priorities? And no dropped calls!
