- If you would be interested in leading a parish youth group, or coordinating hospitality after 10:30 Mass please call Christine at the parish office.

Bring in your old Palms during Lent and they will be burned to make ashes for next year.

If you have children in public school who are in grade 2 and would like to receive their First Communion or in grade 8 and would like to be confirmed please call the parish office to make an appointment with Fr. Wes by the end of February.

Catholic Women’s League – Stations of the Cross on Wednesday, March 7th - in the church - with a short meeting immediately following.

Sunday Vespers and the Rite of Election with Archbishop O’Brien and Elect of our Archdiocese
1st Sunday of Lent, 26, February, 2012, at 4 pm. Archbishop O’Brien will preside and formally welcome all those who have been preparing for Baptism this Easter, as well as Baptized Candidates for Full Communion. Refreshments at St. Mary’s Parish Centre.

World Day of Prayer: You are invited to attend the 2012 World Day of Prayer which will be held on Friday, 2 March 2012 at 2 pm at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church 490 Days Rd. Kingston. This year the focus is on the country of Malaysia and the theme is Let Justice Prevail. A light lunch will follow the service.

Natural Family Planning:  Join us at St. Paul the Apostle Church, the third Monday of every month from 7-8 pm (right side entrance) for an introductory talk on the Billings Method of Natural Family Planning. You will learn how couples can effectively plan a pregnancy or space their children without the use of contraception. For more info: 613-544-8495.

St. Patrick’s Day Tea – Friday, March 16th from 11 am to 2 pm at St. John the Apostle Church Hall on Patrick St. Cost : $5.00. Everyone welcome!

Volunteers needed! Providence Manor Residents are requesting the assistance of 2 volunteers to porter them in their wheelchairs to and from Mass in the Chapel on Wednesday and Thursday mornings each week. 10:15 am to 12-Noon. Residents would also very much appreciate 2 Extraordinary Ministers of Communion to be available on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday mornings each week to bring Holy Communion to residents in their rooms. 9:30 – 10:30 am

The Relic of St. Anthony of Padua is coming to Kingston

Our Friars of the Order of Friars Minor Conventual administer the Basilica and Tomb of St. Anthony in Padua Italy. The Friars at St. John’s, Kingston, have requested that the relic of St. Anthony be brought to Kingston. Our Friars from Padua will bring the relic to Kingston on Tuesday, March 13th, 2012.
We arranged for the relic to be shown at St. Mary’s Cathedral a much larger venue than St. John’s Church. The relic will arrive on March 13. Veneration will begin at 11:00 am and continue until 6:30 pm. People will be able to focus on the person of St. Anthony in the presence of the relic until 6:30 pm. There will be a quiet time of prayer, when people are requested to go into pews and not walk around, from 6:30 – 7 pm, and Mass will begin at 7 pm. The Knights of Columbus will be on site to direct the flow of pilgrims. Info - Friar Ed. at 613-546-6900,or eddebono@aol.com.
 
Newman House St. John Fisher Dinner – March 17
An annual fundraising dinner for Newman House and Catholic Christian Outreach is held to support the work of Catholic evangelization on campus. This year the St. John Fisher Dinner will be held on Saturday, March 17, at the Four Points Sheraton Hotel in Kingston. The Fisher Visitor for 2012 is Cardinal Oswald Gracias, Archbishop of Bombay, who will deliver an address on the topic: “The Church in India Rising”. Sunday, March 18th  - 12 to 4 pm.
The 10:30 Mass and 12:00 Mass will be combined into one 11:00 am Mass.
Immediately following there will be food, fun, fellowship, entertainment and activities for kids of all ages.
Tickets are available after all Masses or in the Parish Office.

$10 single/$20 family.
